You can make a simple sentence more complex by choosing words that are deeper in their meanings. For instance, instead of saying”It was a beautiful sunset.”, you could say, “The sun set in a glorious cascade of pastel colors.” Look, there’s nothing wrong with simple sentences. Things that are easy to read and understand, that flow smoothly, are every bit as good as the most convoluted, involved, arcane phrases that Shakespeare ever penned. The best idea for writing is to write about something you are familiar with. Start with a quick outline of what story you want to tell, then go back and expand it, fill in details. Make sure to stay on topic, to go in a logical progressions from one idea to the next, and make it easy for the reader to follow. Improve your vocabulary…always have a dictionary and thesaurus at hand. Put some time into learning sentence structure, learn to use adjectives, adverbs. Most of all, feel good about what you are writing about, and spell everything correctly. There’s nothing worse than reading something loaded with spelling errors!
