Don’t push your luck means that your luck is running out.

You have been taking chances and you’ve been lucky up until now, but from now on, you better think about it before you do it again, because next time, you won’t be so lucky.

It doesn’t necessarily refer to punishment, though a parent could use it as a threat.

You could also say something like this to a daredevil who does risky things.

When someone says ‘ Don’t push your luck ‘

It basically mean your luck is running out, here comes a punishment.

My dad always said it to me when I was naughty, he said that because of my luck, he hadn’t taken away my phone,TV or whatever the punishment was. The beginning of the phrase is simply a warning ‘ Don’t ‘ It warns you not to and that your pushing your luck to the maximum!

To push your luck.. Say for instance you are playing on the roof of an apartment building with a tennis ball: Although you my toss it at one of the inner edges but it would always hit a certain something that would have it hit something that would have it bounce to an area that you’d be able to always catch it !! But you tried to hit the same area as before !! Only this time you tried an inch to the left or right from the spot that you’d have the ball hit so you can catch it !!.. But when trying it an inch furher to the left of right made it bounce to an area that you had to stretch a`little more to grab or catch it !! SOON after you find that you have to stretch that extra inch in order to catch it !! that extra inch may be what sends you over the side !?! ;-`{ `’R”r,r`r.r’,- `I know that change or change can be a good thing !! But MANY times things are fine just the way they are !!If need be: May safe adjustments for self !![but test them first to see how well they may work for you !?! Or if you may need to make adjustments!?!?!?!?!?! `’R”r,r`r.r’,-

It means your okay right now but push the boundaries one more time and you could be in serious trouble.

Parents often use it to warn kids that their behavior is about to have unpleasant consequences. Or it is used by one person to another to help that person who is ‘pushing their luck’ to advise then to slow down, cease behavior, think about the consequences etc……..

it means, “so far I have tolerated your bad behavior, but I am warning you, right now, to quit acting badly. Or else!”
