Can someone tell me the difference between the two?
For an assignment I have to do a character analysis and for the assignment we are asked to make a summary of the character’s personality and the characteristics of the character. I really do not understand the difference between characteristics and personality. I am the type that learns by examples and if you can include some examples the would help a lot.

Take, for example, someone who combines an aggressive but cowardly nature. We know that person is like this because he has a short temper, shouts at others and bullies them, or even threatens them with violence but when someone stands up to him, he runs away.
Therefore the personality is that of an aggressive coward.
The characteristics that reveal this to us are shown in his behaviour as described above.

The character’s personality: My father is loving when he tucks me into bed. Loving is the personality. My brother is really mean when he hits me. Mean is the personality. Things that come in emotions or are part of the core of the person.
Characteristics. That girl has blue hair. Blue hair. That woman is really neat when she leaves her desk at work. Neat. That guy always had gelled hair. gelled hair. More things the person does rather than what comes from the inside. Hope this helps.
