Can or Could??

I know could is the past of can..but idont know where to use it.As sometimes could may be use in present sentence.Please help me..am really weak in english

You can say, could you please help me, or, are you able to (or would you) help me……the use of could there is certainly not the past tense.

I could not be bothered to help is the past for I can’t (cannot)be bothered to help. Or again I could (would be able) help you in two weeks’ time.

So, use it ‘could’ for the past of ‘can’ and use it instead of ‘would’ for present and future.

If you are using “could” in the present tense, it is called the subjunctive mood and indicates that the action is a possibility rather than a firm intention. “Can” is a statement as to ability.

could is use to say can in the past

like:-

on monday u can jump 100 times but u only jumped 80 times

and on tuesday..u will say that’ucould jump 100 times on monday but u could not’

really think about when youre using it in the sentence and it should the wrong way will start to sound funny after repeating it over and over. ha that’s what i do.
