Though they are not “articles” (they are used as adjectives, pronouns and adverbs), both CAN be used with singular nouns as well as with plural ones depending on the construction

– ARE there ANY donutS left? (plural)
– Any schoolboy knows the alphabet (singular)
some
– Yes, there ARE some donutS left (plural)
– Some man was asking about you. (singular)
