Urid an adhhab
La urid an adhhaba
Astati an adhhab

I got these sentences from a handbook. How come some verbs adds -a at the end (adhhab becomes adhhaba), why?

these”a” letters are not essential in the verb,these were added to give the English speaker the right pronunciation,in fluent Arabic we must put “vowelizers”these are small signs over or below the letters(specially the last one in each word)so each letter can sound exactly it should be(in English they use a lot of”a,u,i,e,y,w,o” to give the same result.
each word can end with a different sign,depends on its place in the sentence.
in your samples the adding of “an”(a conforming tool)made the word after it end always with the sign “fetha”which was written in English as “a” and the verb became:athhaba:
astati an athhaba(they remove the “a” wrongly)
la astati an athhaba
urid an athhaba(they remove the “a” wrongly)
