You are a brand new freshman, and apparently an international student, and they want you there at a set time and you plan to come nearly a month later? And you want to start your college career by missing every class for the first two weeks? Not a good idea for many reasons.

You have to adjust and settle in and most people are already settled. You are going to miss at least one assignment or quiz or exam in every single class — if you can get into any classes — so not only would you be penalized for absences but you might not be allowed to make up that work, even if you had time to do so while you were catching up and getting ready for the next assignment.

Many schools will drop you if you aren’t there the first two or three days. Or if you don’t already have a schedule, most professors won’t let you add a class in the third week. In many classes, every miss after three drops your final grade and so even if you did “A” work, you might be lucky to get a passing grade in the course.

Don’t do it. You are asking for nothing but trouble. Figure out how to get there on time, or figure out how to wait until the next term. It’ll be much better in the long run.

1. Yes they will let you attend but some classes if you don’t show up in the first three days then you will be removed from the class.

2. Some class require you to attend classes while others don’t. In the classes that do, your grade will drop by what ever amount the professors decided at the start of classes.

3. It’s a lot of days to miss class. Fifteen days is midway to a midterm and it’s going to affect your understanding of the class.

Your best bet is to contact either the university or each professor and explain your situation with them and see if you can miss that much classes. If not then switch classes with one that will let you miss.

getting an F hurts your GPA very bad no matter what the course is. if your GPA is below the school requirement, yes, they will kick you out.

of course, miss too many days will hurt your grades. this is not high school. all the Uni. that i know dont look at how many days you missed, they look at your final grades and your GPA. if you miss the entire semester, but you can still pass the class and keep your gpa high, then you will be fine. but this rarely happens in Uni., unless the class doesnt take attendance. i know some classes in some Uni. never take attendance, which means attendance is not part of the grade in those classes.
