Will I get into columbia?

Im taking the hardest courses at my school and im taking 4 aps ths year,3 last year with grades of (4 Eng. Lan, 5 Calc, and 5 Bio). With that, my overall gpa is like a 3.9, almost a 4.0. I have 300 hrs cummunity service, am vp of interact club and am on committee/board of another. I am also in nhs, student council, and was my schools hoby ambassador. I play varsity golf 2. sats are verbal 600, writing 630, and math 760. Overall, my avg sat score falls in the middle 50 percentile, but my verbal is very weak. But I have taken AP Engl. Lan and got a 4 on the exam, and am also taking AP Lit This year. I was thinking mayb this will compensate a little for the poor verbal score Sat II bio is 720. i will take sat math 2c coming october. do u think i have a shot at all into getting into columbia? thanks

You def. have a shot, it really comes down to your essay and what dept. you are applying to. If it is law, it might be a long shot. Good luck though, I am also going through the stress of applying to ivies. My goal is Cornell. If you love Columbia as much as I like Cornell, you should apply ED or EA, depending on what they have. Def. Improves your chances.

To be honest, nothing really sticks out from your CV, I don’t mean to sound condescending or anything, but I don’t think you have a very good chance of getting into Columbia.

I speak as a rising senior at Columbia…if your SAT scores are in the 50th percentile, you really don’t have any chance of getting in (barring special circumstance, like legacy status or the fact that you won some prestigious nation-wide award at the high school level).

You certainly do have a chance but I wouldn’t be making any bets on it. You’d have a better chance of getting into Cornell.

I’d say take a shot at SEAS, but you don’t look like an engineer from your CV, so they’d probably turn you down too.
