While I don’t have specific recommendations for schools in Southern California, I do have experience with the English degree and teaching. From my experience, most colleges have relatively equal education programs. I would talk to your high school English teachers (current and past) and ask their thoughts. Also, contact your guidance counselor for recommendations. Finally, contact some schools that you’re interested in. Find out how many of their graduates get full time jobs the year they graduate and then also find out how many students pass state exams (ie, praxis exams) on the first time. If you just ask how many students pass their praxis you may get 100% but how many of those students had to take the exam multiple times?
