I haven’t seen a compiled list of colleges with this type of housing anywhere. Most schools will have housing that is designated as alcohol and substance free or they will tell you that their school rules prohibit alcohol and drugs. How it’s enforced will obviously vary from school to school, dorm to dorm, and even RA to RA (Resident Assistant). Some schools such as the Brigham Young or Grove City may have a reputation for having fewer drugs/alcohol issues than other colleges. Surprisingly, this is most colleges. Even at Chico state, party school of America, most dorms are alcohol free. This is usually true of any dorm that allows minors. Now, how strictly that is enforced is another issue.

Other schools take it a step farther. I work at the University of Utah and we are a dry campus, thus all of our student housing is dry as well.

Illegal substances, due to their legal status, are forbidden in all dorms at all major univeristies.

The real issue is enforcement. I would look at my list of schools, and ask to speak to a residant advisor (RA) or resident director (RD) at one of the dorms.

Also, some private dorms are run by religiious groups, and they have more stringent rules. Honors housing is also sometimes provided by universities for students with great greades, and can be a more studious environment.

You will both be able to find a substance free living environment at any school, and you will be confronted by those who chose to drink. The trick is to be open with what you want with the administration and they will help make it a reality for you.
