Sounds like you need a BS in Architecture with a minor in Engineering. Look at your local state university or local private university and set an appointment with an academic adviser in the architecture/engineering department. Don’t do a general adviser, they can’t always direct you correctly. Some colleges have the architecture and engineering departments separate. If so, meet with an adviser in both departments. Then contact a few people in the urban planning and design field to ask them what they require when considering an applicant. You can also check the state and city web sites to see their job requirements for education and experience. Searching what real jobs are looking for will really help you get the right direction. Any general degree will not always help you. Plus, you want to make sure that you are fulfilling prereq. classes for the MS program with you BS program so you do not have to make up a lot of classes and lose valuable time. I hope you find the right direction for your future. Take care and good luck

You will deffinantly need some classes in GIS and GPS. That is how all the planning work will be going in the future. Look into a Geography degree with an emphasis in GIS.

Public administration, business, and perhaps even political science. Taking courses in each of those fields would seem to prepare you adequately for grad school.
