What’s harder getting into a college as a senior in HS or transferring while in college?
What’s easier? Getting into say, Columbia University as a HS senior, or transferring into it after 2 years of a state university like Virginia Tech?

Columbia University is one of the most selective universities in the entire nation, so, that said, it will be difficult to get in no matter what your educational experience. That said, if transfer after two successful years at a college/university (read: maintaining a solid GPA, participating in campus activities, etc), you will probably have a better chance than if you applied straight out of high school.
Good luck either way.

It’s harder to get into Columbia University as a high school senior, because you are competing against basically brightest seniors in the country.

Transferring. Usually schools take far fewer transfer students than they do freshmen. That means that they can be far more selective.
