Thee is a greater demand among students than there are qualified faculty in that discipline. The digital media area would be too narrow for teaching, but you could do research in that industry if it interests you. You would definitely need to get a Ph.D., preferably at the best school you can possibly get into, and please make sure that it is, in fact, in business – don’t go for a Ph.D.in political science, hoping that if your interest is in policy in entrepreneurship you would be able to get a job in a business school (AACSB, the major business school accrediting organization, requires that most faculty must have terminal degrees in the subject matter that they are teaching).

It’s a relative question if you like business studies and would be happy growing old applying your studies than it would be worth your time, money and effort. If you enjoy it and are passionate about it then it will come naturally. You are the right person to complete your own plan nobody knows you like you so construct a plan that fills your needs and schedule.
