Any one can be a caregiver if you have the patience and the heart. I took care of my mom for almost three years before she passed away. Feeding, baths, bathroom duties, therapy, etc. After she had a stroke, the doctor suggested putting her in a nursing home. I decided to bring her home with me. The hospital staff showed me and taught me everything I needed to know to take care of her.

Now, if you want to work in a nursing home or rehab center, you do have to be certified. I’m not sure how long you have to take classes, but I think it’s only a couple of months.

If you choose this as your profession, please make sure that you have the patience and kindness to treat these older people with dignity and gentleness.

a caregiver is a bit like a social care worker they are qualified in the field of caring for someone who perhaps has a learning disability or learning difficulties or physical disability or epilepsy. I would suggest that you would need to go to college or University to become one, I know for a fact that here in the United Kingdom, you do need to go to college to do this job. I have learning difficulties and i require some extra help with house work and understanding correspondence. i went to a mainstream school and i lead a pretty normal life it’s just that sometimes i have difficulty with life.

A caregiver is someone (usually a family member) who takes care of the physical needs of a person who is infirm, unhealthy, physically or mentally challenged, etc.. some caregivers are nurses, home health aides, and so on, which requires some education and training or certification. others are merely persons who care and take care.
