What goes into a Masters thesis?
My masters program requries a research paper thats 25 pages long and supported by 10 contemporary literature sources to back up our empirical research. The dept has said this is what they’ve chosen to require masters candidates instead of a traditional masters thesis.
So what goes into a real masters thesis? Am I geting off easy?

Yes. My masters thesis was on the short side with only 60 pages; some are hundreds of pages. In the sciences, it’s not really how many pages but what goes into it. A theory paper will be shorter (40-60), observation 50-100, experimentation 80-300 pages. There’s no page requirement, it just always turns out long to cover the background and work you did. Also, I had about a hundred references. That’s pretty typical, at least in the sciences. And it had to be original, publishable research.

Yes, you are getting off easy. A real masters thesis is not as difficult as a PhD thesis but typically lengthier than 25 pages and contains more than just 10 contemporary sources.
