Probably not by just one B. And don’t forget that GPA is not all that matters at the “elite” schools. You could be admitted with a high school GPA of 3.0, or rejected with a 4.0.

Don’t forget to be a well-rounded student. You’ll want good extracurriculars, good course selections, etc. Also check with Johns Hopkins to be sure that there aren’t courses that are basically required for admission, like 3 years of a foriegn language. Honors courses are a great start, I wouldn’t worry too much if you don’t take most or all of the available AP courses. Best of luck to you!

Many–not “a lot of”–accelerated courses. “Johns”–not “John”–is the spelling. You don’t need every grade to be an A. –Not at all. You don’t need AP or honors courses. If you can, take some college courses while in high school.

I just graduated high school, so I can definitely answer this question. I’m going to tell you this. Don’t worry about extra-curricular activities too much, and don’t even stress too much on your grades. Just be sure to maintain atleast a B average and you should be fine. Here’s the thing though. The one thing that your guidance counselors don’t tell you, but I’ve realized to be true. The most important thing colleges will look at. Your SAT scores. Yes, your SAT scores. I’m telling you, I had a friend with a 75% average, but since his SAT scores were really high, he got into Baruch. In case you didn’t know, that’s one of the best business colleges ever. SAT scores. That’s all you need to worry about. Score high on your SATs and you’ll be fine with college. One word of advice though: take the SAT’s more than once, just so that you can increase your chances of getting a high score. Remember, when it comes to the SAT, they don’t penalize you for receiving lower scores the second or third time around, but if you get a higher score, they count that. Pretty good deal. SAT’s. Score well on those and you’ll be in Hopkins in no time.

There is a likelihood of being authorised at Johns Hopkins. You would definitely be authorised on the flagship campuses of state universities. If you practice at a quantity of prestigious universities, you’ll most of the time get into no less than a few of them. You would examine together with your steering counselor approximately which faculties you could desire to use to as again-up faculties.

just high GPA and AP courses won’t get you in…you have to be involved in your school, whether in clubs, sports, student body, etc…even extracurricular activities outside of school, like volunteer work in the community, etc…colleges look very highly on well-rounded students that can actually make contributions to their institution, not just making good grades…
