It’s premature to think about a radiology subspecialty before you are even in medical school. Most people don’t decide on their subspecialty until they get into residency, and sometimes not until their third year.

Subspecialty does not necessarily have a direct impact on salary, but may make you more marketable in a competitive environment, so you can join a good group.

The most common subspecialties today are neuroradiology, interventional, and cross sectional imaging. But the “best” subspecialty to get into could change by the time you get into residency.

I see you have a lot of concern about salary and lifestyle, but there is no job that will pay you a lot of money to do nothing. The practices that earn the highest salaries work hard to earn them.
