What does “first-class” mean when refering to an MA?
On university applications for PhD programs, many guidelines specify that the applicant must have a “first-class MA.” What, exactly, does this mean? How does one know if one’s Master’s degree is first class? I’m referring to Canadian universities, in case that makes a difference.
