what are universities looking for in mature students?
i am looking to apply to a local university and i do not have my high school completed.. what will the university be looking for in order to let me in? i am required to write a 500 word essay and i have no idea what to include in it.

Uni’s will want to know that as you haven’t studied for some time, that you’re capable of handling the workload and applying yourself to suceed. They need to know that you can write essays (as you will be doing a lot of that at uni), know how to study and are able to committ to the course.
They will also look for something to make up for the fact that you have not completed high school and have not studied in recent times. Experience definitely comes in handy! Include all relevant experience you have – such as life experience, work experience, that is relevant to your course.
They will also want to know you’re keen – maybe include your reasons for wanting to return to study.
