For daytime students, I think 3 or 4 is when most classes end for the day (it depends on the college). the earliest are around 8. Most full time students don’t take more than 20 hours a week, 12 is minimum, so some students have entire days off in the middle of the week, or only go to 3 hrs of classes each day. You can arrange your schedule so you don’t have early morning classes, or afternoon classes.

For most classes, you spend as much time or more time doing homework, even if it is just reading and studying, not offical “homework”.

Most students spend between 12 and 18 hours per week in class. It is expected that for every hour you spend in class you will spend two hours out of class doing school work. This number is definitely an average. I spent much less than that but my second roommate spent a bit more. The other thing to remember is that those two hours do not always happen every week. You will have light weeks and heavy weeks.

for us classes start 10 minutes past every hour or half hour from 8 am to 7 pm (or later, i’m not sure), and last 50 minutes for the most part; there are some that are longer. it depends on how you schedule your classes; you can have days during the week with very few or no classes. our max number of credits is 18/semester, and number of credits is pretty much the number of hours per week you spend in class; that’s not counting the time out of class you spend on studying.

Most courses in college are “three-credit” courses. The way credits are awarded in college is that you get one credit for every hour you spend in the classroom per week. Therefore, most classes take up about three hours per week. This does NOT include homework.

NOTE: Some classes are one-credit, but they are rare: they include easy computer or music courses. Others are four credits, including difficult math classes or science labs.

The typical bachelor’s degree requires 120 credits. This means that with an average of three credits per class, 40 classes are taken in total. Divided over four years, this is 10 per year, or 5 classes (15 hours per week) per semester.

This does not include homework.

It varies greatly from course to course and college to college. Factors that influence this are the number of prac. classes, lectures and tutorials. Mine varied from year to year. The max was about 25 hours and the minimum was 20 hours.

When are you completely free? Summer break, even then you will probably have reading that you can do for the next year.
