what are the pros and cons of joining/rushing for a sorority?
Favorite Answer
Cons: You WILL be humiliated over and over again prior to being accepted (do you think you can take it).
Also, the social, networking, and leadership skills I developed in college have helped me immensely in my career life. It may sound silly, but I know I’m in the career / job I’m in now because of my social skills which I developed in college. You learn how to talk to people, in front of people, how to sell ideas, to lead, etc. I definitely recommend checking it out.
Same as KKG2010, I was also NEVER humiliated / hazed at any time in college (or after for that matter) and I know the girls I’m an adviser for now don’t haze, either.
As far as cons, yeah, you’ll be labeled a “sorority girl” but that’s not so bad. You’ll have a ton of pride being Greek. If you go through recruitment and join, I promise you’ll love it.
Cons: can’t really think of any, except for being stereotyped as a “sorority girl” but I’m over that. lol.
P.S. Don’t listen to RockStar, most schools have a strict anti-hazing policy. I was NEVER humiliated as a pledge.
Cons: takes up a significant amount of time and has high grade expectations
