Loma Linda University in Southern California. You have direct access to their hospitals, as well as one of the most respected rehabilitation hospitals in the area (Robert Ballard Rehab). It is a Seventh-Day Adventist (Christian) based school, however, I have found it to be a great school despite being a non-Sevent Day Adventist. The coursework is challenging, and the instructors are well-known in the medical community. Here is their website if you would like further information: http://www.llu.edu/llu/sahp/pt/

This is a very controversial question…many things may make a school considered the “best” however, most reporting authorities (such as U.S. News and World Report) will admit that name recognition is a frequent indicator of their position rather than consideration for the cirriculum.

Furthermore, PT schools in the US need to be accredited and have to adhere to strict guidelines as outlined by CAPTE. Therefore, any school that has maitained consistent accredidation over the last several years may be considered a “good school.” Another consideration is what is the school’s “first pass rate.” How many students pass the national licensure exam on the first try.

One way to start examining schools is to go to the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org and go to the educational programs section. You can examine each school’s accredidation history and can contact the school directly for their first pass rate.

Good luck
