Associates in arts or science?

I want to do pharmacy or some sort of medical/science/chemistry but i didn’t take enough science/math courses in high school. I can take these courses at a community college but it is going to take me longer to get my 2-year degree because i’ll have to take a lot of pre-reqs so that i can get into the actual stuff that will get me the 2 year degree. The only problem is that i wanted to get my associates in science since that will let me transfer to a 4 year college and get into a good pharmacy school..but yeah since i’ll be taking alot of pre-reqs it’s going to take me alot longer to complete it, right? I was wondering if i could get my associates degree in arts AA and still transfer to a 4 year college to start alot of the math/science and then get into pharmacy school? Or would a associates in arts be totally useless?

1. If you want to get B.S., take the prerequisites at the CC. It will not take you that much longer. Both an A.A. and an A.S. have to take G. E. classes like English, Geology, Biology, etc.

2. You want to have the background knowledge or the upper division courses at the University will be more difficult and you don’t want that.

3. You don’t want to take any lower level courses at the university because that will cost more money.

4. Focus on what you want in the end and not the quickest way to get it. It will make you appreciate your accomplishments more.

If you want to go to a community college, and you know which transfer college you want to go to, talk to your academic adviser at the community college, because they know what you should do.
