What are some important factors that determine your admission to law school, other than GPA and LSAT scores?

for example, do extracurricular activities play a primary role (under the GPA and LSAT scores)? if so, what kinds are most helpful to be apart of?

Usually other things that are taken into account are your letters of reference, life experience, work experience, community/school involvement, essays, and interviews. Those are the things that any school whether graduate school or law school really look at. Some schools vary but in general these are the other factors. I think work experience tends to be the biggest factor in a lot of schools review processes. So if you can get an internship at a law firm or something legal related then that would probably be a big help. Especially if you can get your boss to write a good letter of recommendation for you. I think essays are the other part of it. Usually essays (or personal statements) ask you to talk about your life and why you want to pursue a career in that field you are applying to. If you have a good life story that will also help you out. For example, if you have had to work your way through college without the help of your parents or if you have overcome some really big hurdle. Again, it varies from school to school but this is what I have noticed.

Previous work experience is important, but many people applying to Law School have none since they are applying straight from University or College under Mommy and Daddy’s pay check. Extracurricular activities could show commitment if you played the sport for a long period of time, but most Law Schools don’t have sports teams. Volunteering at a local court house or somewhere which will give you an idea of what being a Lawyer is all about could be very useful and unusual for an applicant to do. For instance, the court system where I live asks for volunteers to represent the interests of youths who are in a custody battle in court. No specialized qualifications are necessary. Most applicants will not have this on their resume or application, so you will stand out.

the female that instructed you this replaced into no longer telling you the best reality. LSAT examination, like SAT assessments have been instituted some years in the past via fact people believed that it replaced right into a good degree of the grades one might ultimately get and in spite of if or no longer a individual might graduate. This has now be soundly rebuked. those assessments basically degree what they have been meant to degree, how nicely you do with the questions with reference to the examination. yet regulation faculties to collect the records even inspite of the undeniable fact that it has little or no to do with regulation college scores. scores are quite often finished by way of magazines like US information and international comments and that they ask regulation college directors to rank the colleges. So all people provides their alma mater a extreme score or they provide the faculty the place they prepare or artwork a extreme score. Its completely bogus. Harvard is not greater effectual regulation college than say college of Michigan even inspite of the undeniable fact that it has a suitable 2 score. regulation faculties basically have some alerts of who they think of would be a good pupil. they do no longer decide directly to confess a pupil that would drop out via fact of undesirable grades or is probably no longer attracted to regulation. so they use a bunch of standards alongside with grades, ideas, artwork journey, activity, LSAT, etc., a lot of those faculties that are protective of their scores will basically decide directly to confess pupils with extreme LSAT scores via fact they suspect that in the event that they only admit the suitable scorers they are going to be seen in a greater favorable gentle than different faculties that settle for pupils with decrease LSAT’s.
