Medical school is 4 years, after a bachelor’s. This is followed by 3-7 years of residency training in a specialty field of your choosing. To answer your first question: In medical school itself you learn about: anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and the basics of taking care of patients. The first two years are largely classroom based, and the last two are entirely clinically based, i.e. you’re taking care of patients under the supervision of an attending physician.

OB-GYN (gynecology) is a 4 year residency in the US. You would then have 4 years of medical school, and 4 years of residency after you finish your pre-med requirements.
