Volunteering?

I would really like to work in the medical field, so hospitals would be a good choice. The problem is transportation, I don’t really have someone that can take me since it’s too far. So, what are some possible ideas that you can suggest? And oh, has anyone ever participated in UCLA’s stem cell research thing in the summer, how was it?

I don’t want any sites, I’ve tried a lot and they didn’t help…

Also, I have a friend who volunteers at the Aquarium of the Pacific, and I never knew there was something like that, so I don’t want anything too generic that everyone is able to do. (He had to get interviewed…)

If you’re in the UCLA, I’d try asking professors if they need any assistants in their labs. I’ve done the stem cell research proj at UCLA in the summer and it was ok but not really as good as I’d thought it’d be. Mostly repetitive lab work which has rarely anything to do with stuff that goes on in hospitals.

Any volunteer work you do in the medical field can help, it doesn’t just have to be at a hospital. Ask around at doctors offices or hospices or assisted living sites/nursing homes. You can even look around for Red Cross or any public health education centers.
