universities and colleges without early action…?

However, do you have and did you declare a major on you application? If yes, then there is something else you can do while you wait.
Write a letter to the Dept chair of the department of your major. Explain your situation and see what response you get.
Keep in mind that college applications are filed with the Admissions office, BUT the admissions office is NOT the one that decides if you are accepted or not…its the Dept of your major that gets the final say. They know how many empty seats they have. They recommend to the Admissions office who gets accepted.
Another thing to do is to look at the faculty listings in the dept of your major to find out the backgrounds / interests of the faculty in the dept. Find those who are teaching/researching the aspect/specialty of your major. Write letters to them, introduce yourself, and make contact so they know you….as opposed to just getting the application in a stack of thousands.
When writing to them, explain what made you choose the major, what you hope to do with that major…and if this was already done in your application packet as you essay…not a problem….but they are seeing this BEFORE they get the mountain of applications to sift through…and the funny thing about first impressions is they tend to stick! So this could give you a leg up on the competition.
So, do this pro-active step and you could get some feedback that might shed some light on what might be coming to you in the mail in the spring.
Hope this helps. Best wishes for your education and future success.
