Every major has a certain amount of credit hours that are “elective” in a certain field. That means you get to choose the course. You might have Humanities Electives and you choose World Literature, you might have Business Electives and you choose Small Business Finance, etc.

UofA is giving you “electives” credit for classes you took at U of P. This means that they do not believe these courses are of a high-enough quality to satisfy their equivalent course.

This means if you took college algebra on-line, you will need to re-take College Algebra at UofA, but the on-line course will count towards a Science Elective. If they did not count as an elective, you would be faced with taking another science course at UofA.

It is a generous offer!

Yes, you can likely finish in 3 and a half years.

Schools have different requirements for graduation. They have their General Education requirements, the Major requirements, and then a total number of minimum credits to graduate.

Arizona is saying they won’t count the UoP credits for either their GE or Major requirements. However, they’ll take them as elective credits, which go towards that minimum overall credits needed to graduate.

Now, let’s say the minimum total credit hours is 150. Say GE credits will fill up 60. Major credits will fill up another 60. That leaves 30 hours of “elective” credits. Random courses you can take to fill up that total minimum #. The UoP gives you 15, meaning you only need another 15 hours of elective credits.

You’ve just hit upon the major reason why many people, including employers, look down on online schools. Particularly University of Phoenix. They’re often not very rigorous, have inherently lax controls so the quality can’t be verified. At least you can still use them as electives.

Wow, that’s a wierd doctor. If there is no reason to do a c-section, then do not go for a c-section. Safer? What’s not safe about a vaginal birth? A c-section is a major abdominal surgery and it takes a long time to recover adn there is scarring that can happen and it makes it a bit risky for the next birth should the woman try for a vaginal delivery. So again, why do a c-section if not needed? And did you know that the reproductive organ is actually taken out of the woman’s body on a c-section? Not something people talk about… I would highly suggest looking for another doctor. I had c-section for both my pregnancies. During the first, I had a big baby. We all know that he’s going to be big so my doctor’s plan was to allow me to deliver on my own. And should things not work out and my son didn’t want to come out, my doctor’s plan was not to try anything else (vacuum, forcep) in case my son gets stuck and it would be an emergency c-section. So, I pushed for 3 hours and my son wouldn’t come out. We made a decision to go with a c-section. On my second pregnancy, I had twins. I wanted to try for vaginal birth this time but things didn’t work out because they were not head down. There may very well be a reason to do a c-section at the very last minute, but to decide to go ahead and do a c-section from the very beginning is a little silly.

Yep, that’s exactly what an elective does. You can graduate in 3.5 years. Of course, you’ll have to plan your courses well to make sure that you get al of your major requiremetns and the general education requirements done in 3.5 years rather than 4. Otherwise, your degree could take you 4 years, and you’ll just have more than the required 120 or so credits needed to graduate.

electives are the extra classes you take to round out your program, required classes are the ones that are required for your major.
