Suspended from College- non academic. Getting into other colleges?

Hello. Last year I got suspended from my college for a couple pranks that me and my friend pulled during college. Basically we took John Deere golf carts that the maintenance plant used and drove them around. The university suspended me and now I am looking to get into another college.

I have 70 hours completed in a Mechanical Engineering degree with a 3.39 GPA. I have been on the Dean’s honor roll and the Presidents honor roll before and was also involved in community service groups.

As I am applying to other universities I see a note on each application that states that if I have been suspended before write an explanation. So I know I have to say yes to that even though I have official transcripts that show no record of the suspension. I am sure they can find out though if they needed to right? That gives me a chance to explain.

Questions:

Should I wait until the suspension time is up then apply?

What are the chances of getting into another university with this suspension.?

Unfortunately, being suspended for disciplinary reasons can also affect your chances of being admitted to another university. It really depends on the university you apply to and how they view the severity of your suspension.

You do have your GPA, your President’s and Dean’s Honor roll and your community service to attest to your abilities.

Even if you wait until your suspension period is over, you were still suspended and you are required to report it. My advice to you, be totally honest and open to meeting with an admission counselor to discuss your application. Don’t be discouraged. Explain how you’ve learned from your actions and take full responsibility for it. Prove to them that you are serious about your education and would like to be given an opportunity to excel and be a successful graduate of their university.

Best wishes!
