Should I take Calculus 3?

Ok so I’ve been taking college classes ever since i started high school and now i realized i have a dilemma.

I’m a business major and I’ve been taking general ed. classes and business classes. I’ve realized that if i take business and general ed classes with no math classes I can graduate with my A.S. in Business and finish my general ed requirements.

But if i take Calculus 3 I can boost my high school GPA because it counts as Honors. There are NO Honors or AP classes at my school because we are allowed to take 11.9 units of college classes for free. If i decide to take Calculus 3 I either won’t graduate with my A.S. in Business or I won’t finish all my general ed requirements.

Should I take Calculus 3, even though I don’t need it for my major; but it will look good on my transcript. Or should I just take Business and general ed classes that won’t really help my GPA but will get me an A.S. in my major?

I don’t know your situation totally, but my vote goes to — take calc 3 if you feel confident about it.

The reason why I suggest you to forgo the AS degree is because most people, and I think that includes you, go on to a 4-year college/university to get their bachelor’s degree. Once you get your BA or BS, the AS you would’ve gained with the business degree is relatively meaningless.

The decision will ultimately be yours, of course. I’d say that if you don’t believe Calc 3 will be too difficult, go with it. It will help your GPA and also add an impressive class on your transcript, both of which will help you with your college application process.
