Studying Bonobos?

What should I major in if I want to study the psychology of Bonobos and how it relates to human nature? Is this a realistic career choice? If so, what would be the name of it?

Bonobos are a species of African chimpanzee that are sexually liberated, generally peaceful, but otherwise dumb as rocks. Check out the fraternities in your university. That will describe most of their members.

Seriously, one thing to remember is that people are always more interesting than animals. If you want to study human nature, study people.

Hehe. Bonobos are interesting to say the least. I’m not exactly sure, but if I had to guess at the title of the training I’d say “Evolutionary Anthropologist”.

Though I believe you’d have trouble getting to that point. Suspect a PhD and grant searching would take up most of your time. You might think about talking with Psychology students that are interested in sex as their specialty when you get around to making a thesis.

anthropology or zoology would be my guess. I took an anthropology class and we learned all about bonobos and other primates. I’m not sure about the realism of studying bonobos as a career, but look into it. Hey…Jane Goodall made a career studying apes, so who knows.
