Study tips for college students with ADD?

Ok so, I have trouble studying for a long period of time and thankfully, so far I really haven’t had to put much effort in studying very hard because my classes are so easy. But I am going to be starting 300-400 level classes soon and my major isn’t easy, so I have a feeling I am going to have to devote lots of time studying. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for studying with ADD, how can I stay put for long periods of time without losing focus?

Lots of time studying doesn’t have to translate to long, unbroken periods. Find a place that isn’t going to have a lot of distractions, do 15 – 30 minutes of reading or reviewing your notes or problem sets, then take a quick 5 minute break to stretch or walk around. If you’re exercise-inclined, you could also study while you’re on one of the machines.

Also, take advantage of your professors’ office hours. They can help give you an idea what material you really need to focus on for exams, and what you just need to be aware of.

Listen I had the same problem I know a lot of people say stay away from meds but I started them and OMG I can not tell you how much easier they make studying focusing paying attention working they make my life soooo simple. I suggest you see a psychologist and get meds because I bet if you did you’d barely have to try at school to get straight A’s. I barely try at anything and on top of that I overachieve. I used to be a lazy slacker NOW i’m the complete opposite.

You cant study for long periods. You need to take breaks. Give yourself goals for example, give yourself a reward everytime you reach a spot and then make a new goal and then when you reach that one reward yourself again. You will get more satisfied and get a lot of study done.

sure reduce the distractions in study area.

tv text messages, noisy friends, loud music.

break your study times up in to smaller times . hardest subjects work from 10 minute sections to 20, to 30, to 45, to 60min. sections.

suggest visit ThinkRightNow.com for some good study helpers.

i’m getting better results doing so.

Grow up and just do it. I have been confined to a wheelchair my whole life, and if I had your attitude I would be a mess. ADD, is a sham! Try being a paraplegic!
