Should I try to apply Early Action for Stanford?
My mom wants me to apply early action for Stanford because i have nothing to lose, but what are my chances? My GPA unweighted is 3.7, my sophmore year i had 4 b’s first semester 2 b’s second semester, junior year 1 b first semester no b’s second semester. I got 760 on my math sat II and bio sat, and 1790 on my SAT I first time and 2070 Second time and i’m retaking in October. The only extra curricular i’ve done is volunteering and swim team.

Applying eary action, is only for people who really want to go to that school, if it is only so-so for you don’t take a spot for someone who would want it more. Also you migth not like the school, and there is a penalty for declining an early action, I know no other UC took my friend who declined it. Your do have good scores, and a GPA but its not amazing, apply during the regular time if you want to go there, or now if it is your dream school.

theres no harm in trying… i heard that they scrutinze you more if you are an early action applicant because all the kids that are sure they will get into stanford and all the kids who have wanted to go to stanford and only stanford all their lives apply early, if you have nothing to lose then just apply regularly, it may help you

Apply early because classes fill up fast usually. You can always decline. I do not know if there is any penalty
