Should I go to university?

I just want to do graphic design: I’m already adept at skills in all areas: advertising, animation, you name it.

If I just made a portfolio, wouldn’t that be enough to get a good job out of that (combined with college grades)? Should I really spend two more years in study? Will the outcome be the same?

Please help, I’m really stuck.

It’s a competitive world. There are a lot of people already out there with good portfolios and no education. There is a lot more to graphic design than just graphic design. What about art history, business aspects, good writing skills, communication skills…etc… A degree shows you are a hard worker and you are responsible. It shows you can accomplish something and give more.

I would definently get some type of certification. Or, something that says that you can learn.
