Selling a textbook?

I have a textbook I’ll never use, and I want to get rid of it.

I heard of some people selling it online via Amazon.

But if you were to do that via Amazon, then would you have to pay for all the shippings and stuff?

I’ve never tried doing such things before, so I don’t know what to expect.

Is it profitable?

Besides using Amazon, what other ways are there of getting rid of your textbook profitably?

Here’s just what occurred to me. Go to the first class that needs the book and ask around. There may be people there that haven’t bought the book yet. And those would be the potential customers anyway.

The best way to sell a textbook is actually to personally sell it to a student that will be taking the same class the next semester.

You first need to make sure that the exact same edition of the textbook will be used. A simple email to the professor teaching the course should provide you with an answer to the question. Next, either hang up a few flyer announcing that you have a textbook for sale, PRICE CHEAPER THAN BOOKSTORE.

Many professors will annoucne to the class that there is someone wanting to sell a texbook. You can also find out what classroom the class will be in a write your announcement on the chalkboard with your email and phone number.

Its better to do it this way because you won’t have to deal with the hassle of amazon. Plus, you will get more immediate results. I don’t know how many textbooks I sold this way. Find out how much the book will sell for (used) at the bookstore and sell it for at least $10 less.

I forgot to mention that in your flyers, tell them how much the bookstore would have charged for the book.

Example;

FOR SALE:

World Civilization, 9th edition Authors: Smith & Morrison

Textbook for HI 101, Fall 2007

Bookstore price: $90

My price: $75

Good condition,

(include contact info and use some loud colors)

If you hang the flyers in the right place, you’ll get an interest in it immediately.

I have bought lots of textbooks online. That is my fave way to get them and usually I can get them for a prive that is decent and do not have a problem paying the shipping charges. Actually I have paid the shipping on all of the texts that I have bought. I guess you only cost is what you will ship the book in.

Textbook411.com is the best place to sell back books, they buy them direct and pay for the shipping costs, and they have always paid more than my college bookstore!

Try to sell it via craigslist.org its free and its in your local area, if someone wants to buy it they will pick it up or you can also ship. You can also try Ebay.com. Hope this helps!
