From the moment a gift comes in, proper recognition is key. In addition, good stewardship of the gift and the donor should follow. The gift, of course, should be used for its intended purpose. Beyond that, what contact with the donor should be maintained?

a. For a small organization, with an average gift size of $100 or so, describe a sample recognition and stewardship protocol (describe how the organization should thank the donor properly as well as encourage more gifts in the future).

b. For a larger organization’s major gifts program, receiving gifts from $25,000 to $1,000,000 in size, describe a recognition and stewardship protocol.
