Question for Women 18-23 Only!?

Hello, I have this assignment from my Psychology class which requires me to examine sex, gender, or gender roles/stereotypes in our society. Part of this assignment is to ask the opposite sex what it’s like to be female on a daily basis. What are the pros and cons? And what are the benefits and challenges?

This is a serious question so please be honest. I’m only going to incorporate your response to my paper in a general matter, so feel free to let the world know what it’s like to be a woman.

I’m trying to get as much response, whether it be through the internet, so I can get a better grasp to women’s perspective.

Thanks everyone.

Honestly, being a woman is great…I would not want to be a man for any amount of money. I’m not an uber feminist or lesbian, but I genuinely enjoy being a woman. Sure, I have back pain because of my breasts and getting my period sucks ***, but there are tons of cute clothes out there, most men hold the door for me, and so far in the workplace, I’m treated as an individual not a woman. Oh, shaving sucks! I wouldn’t say that I have an easier or more difficult life being a woman than being a man, because I’ve never been a man. I will say that the culture we live in expects women to be stick-thin, and most women in the world have curves…sometimes living up to this expectation is difficult. The world also thinks of women as baby makers and not successful business people and it’s still sad that women make less than men, and a man and a woman with the same resume and credentials applying for a job – well, the man would get it.

Well… often i feel very equal to guys… im 21 by the way.. but one problem i tend to have is ok at work.. i push carts.. and i work with all guys… and they see me as weaker.. the guys are always asking if i need help and all that.. which no i can do jus as much if not more then them… Also.. i have problems where guys are often lookin at me.. which i hate cause if a girl thinks a guy is cute… yeah she looks and thinks cute.. but guys have like staring problems i think.. its kinda a challenge cause you always have to prove yourself to guys (with teh first thing i was saying…) and its a challenge when guys are constantly looking because you know your being judged or watched. it makes things more difficult. hope i helped even if jus a lil 🙂
