Question about college degree?
Okay I’m really stupid about this whole college thing so I need some advice. I am planning on going back to school, U of P online. I need to get at least an associates degree asap. Here’s my plan, but I don’t want to waste my time or money so tell me if this sounds like a good plan.
Go to U of P to earn associates degree in information technology. Since I need the degree asap.
Then if need be go back to U of P and earn a Bachelor of Science in Business – Information Systems.
I’m thinking that if I have the associates that going to get the bachelors should only consist of the 60-credit required course of study. Is that a bad assumption? Has anyone done this themselves so I know I’m not making the wrong decision and wasting my time and money!

It sounds like a good plan. If you know that you want a bachelors degree though, it would probably be easier, faster, and cheaper to go right for the bachelors degree and skip the associates degree.
As far as how many more credits you will need, that depends on the school. Some colleges have mostly 3 credit classes while others have 4 credit classes.

I think it depends on what degree you have and/or how dedicated and passionate you are about succeeding in whatever it is you want to do. There are studies which show that having an education greatly improves ones life and the life of their future families but i think you’ll find that there’s a hell of alot of people working in telemarketing that have a university degree. Also there alot of people in high powered jobs in their industry who got there through an internship or menial job at the bottom and made it based on dedication and perseverance. personally i think working your way up through an industry proves you want to do it more than someone that studied it at uni. And while having an education can enrich your life as you are more aware of the wonderful things in the world and are less likely to be biased or racist whatever ignorance can sometimes be bliss. Sometimes having an understanding of the world only makes you more aware of the injustices of it and then you go around being pissed off at politics etc rather than enjoying the small but fabulous things in your own life. so in answer to your question i think a college degree will only make a difference to some peoples lives based on their basic outlook and if they have a career in mind where it is absolutely necessary to have a degree. Or if they are content to be an academic and their want in life is to constantly learn.

Miss Harmony— I never heard of getting an AAS as soon as possible…. My wife is a university professor and I know she takes a lot up date classes on line for her Masters.. . The last class was 5 weeks long… She also teaches on-line and the last class was 4 weeks… Might take more time than you think to get the AAS..Not all classes are offered on-line and attending the classroom is the only way… What ever education is accomplish is good for you….
