Your nearest community college will have career assessment tests, which is what you are asking for not, the actual tests you will take in classes. Call and tell them you want to speak to a counselor . You will set up and appointment where you can ask about taking a career test. This like you said is basically a personality test just to help show what jobs and majors you may be interested in.

Sure, there are plenty of test that colleges offer. One thing you may want to do is figure out what colleges are available to you (are there some in your current location, or do you need to move? are they tech colleges or universities?).

There is a site that I use with my college students to give them an idea of their own interests. All too often I find they go after what they THINK they are good at, while letting other talents go by. It is call the MBTI. I will put the link in my source list.

One thing I recommend to students is to take some gen eds at a tech college or community college to save $$$. However, I recommend that you check with your target University and find out what specific requirements they have so your gen eds will be sure to transfer over.

I think if you spend some time alone with yourself, try to identify things that you are strong at – writing vs. science, math vs. psychology. If you have idea of where your strengths are, then it might help you to determine what area you want to go into.

Also find out if the Army will pay for your college – in WI they pay up to 4 years of college!

Best of luck to you! I have confidence in you that you will find the right path.

There’s a career assessment test that is very reliable that you can take online. It was written by John Holland and it is called the Self Directed Search. I had to take it for school, and it fit perfectly into the career direction I chose. It takes what you say you like and then shows you a bunch of different jobs that are available to you! Good luck!!!

No, the tests you are required to take for college are based purely on general knowledge. You would just have to decide on your own what degree you would want to pursue. If I were you I would try business management. Since you already are familiar with the trucking business, you could start your own business, owning trucks and having employees. You would just be managing them. But you don’t necessarily need a degree to do that.

Try your local community college site. CC’s are geared to adults going back to school and working at the same time.
