PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!?

ok i am 22years old and obviously people are telling me that even if i dont live with my parents and they dont claim me …i am still going to have to put my parents down if i am applying for a grant!

Now who cares about that ..what i care about is my dad is very strict and might not pay for my college education ….so how can i get a grant or a loan without them on it ..so i can do it myself …i can’t”” ..i need help on what to do and stuff like that ..its going to take me 2years anyways to get my associates so that doesnt matter thats cheap enough for my dad to pay ..but when i transfer off the northeastern university thats 40,000 a year!!!! I’m going to need help with that …please give me some information!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!

1) by the time you transfer to NE U you’ll be old enough to be independent and it won’t matter at that point. That’s a non-issue. It’s also 2 years out — things change in two years; worry about this issue when it’s time to worry about it.

2) you don’t “apply for a grant” – you complete the FAFSA and your financial aid office will qualify you for whatever you qualify for. You apply for scholarships – scholarships have nothing at all to do with your dad.

3) go see the financial aid office at your community college. speak with the nice professional there. He/she will tell you all of the options you have available at their school (grants, scholarships, loans, etc…). If you qualify for no financial aid – you pay the bill yourself. A lot of people pay for their own education.

You have to understand most financial institutions will not give out loans unless they have some sort of collateral(everyone just wants to get paid). Unless you have a good paying job that they would accept, you are going to need some sort of serious clout.You’re best bet is to try somewhere else for a while and later transfer and two there are always ways to cut the cost of your academic and essential needs.
