Please answer my question, very intersting and important!?

So I’m going to be a junior this fall, and well at my school we can graduate 1/2 a year early if we have good gades and all our credits, which I do. So, if in that other half of the year I take community college classes, will that save me time for when I go to College/ University next fall? Do you think it’s a good idea?

its a good idea if you plan on going to a school in the same state you currently live in… if not typically the credits arent accepted in out of state colleges.

I have a friend who did that. Just make sure the college you want to go to accepts ALL the classes you take at the JC for full credit. Usually the JC handbook shows who accepts the transfers.

Then don’t get cockey.

A friend of mind had YOUR credentials and ended up at UCLA in an Astro-Physics major and squeeked out with Ds in Calculus and Astro-Physics after just two quarters.

Totally ruined his life.

His Astro-Phsyics course was one of those where the Professor said

We will be studying the equation on these three blackboards over the next two years.

So be ready for the big times, because UCLA with a MAJOR like what he wanted was SO FAR above his head

AND HE HAD YOUR CREDITIALS TO THE T

He just sank. And he was a good student too.

Those 300 student auditorium courses got to him.

That problem on those 3 black boards got to him.

If he only had an easier major he’d have gotten a BS and maybe a MS.

Everyone I know who wanted to become a MEdical Doctor lost it when it came to Organic Chemistry and got a D

One friend of mine had to got an additional quarter to get his BS in Biology so he switched majors and got an immediate A.B. in Botany

Every Medical School, including Grananda, turned him down.

There is a thing called the Peter Principal and it says sooner or later every cockey person rises to the level of their own incompetence.

Don’t shoot too high once you transfer!

It certainly should give you a head start on college. One caveat…make sure you don’t take anything too complicated, or it may not transfer. But if you just stick with basic, core curriculum…English 101, History 101, Intro to Biology, etc….you should be fine. (When you get accepted and know for sure which college you’ll be going to, it might be a good idea to call the registrar’s office and ask if your intended course load at that community college will all transfer if you get good grades.)

Your other option, of course, is to get a full-time job and save up some money for college…it almost always takes more than you think it will.

Good luck!

In FL we have a dual credit program for high schoolers. They can complete 1 to 2 years of college during their high school years, and it is funded by the state.

I had that option in my junior year too, and it is a good one if you want to get ahead, but consider this: you would miss your senior year, and that includes any sports or clubs your in, and you’d be seperated from your friends. I’m not trying to discourage you from doing it, I think its a great opportunity, I’m just giving you the other side of the argument. I didn’t do it because I was too lazy….
