And you better get crackin’! You don’t have much time left if you want to get a good paper.
And don’t freak out-remember a 3-5 page paper seems long-but all you have to do is type 1 1/2 pages to 2 pages and then hit “double space”…and then you are done.
Also–regarding your citations-use this tool,
http://citationmachine.net/index.php?source=14
…you just click on what type of reference you have (book, article, interview, etc) and fill in the information it asks for -then it spits out your citiation perfectly!!! So no more hours and hours of making sure your commas and periods are in the right spot!!!
Like I said, I will check back in a few to help you find a topic!
Ok, sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, I got caught up in work and school stuff.
About your paper-it sounds like the prof is pretty open to any topic, probably what he is doing right now is getting a general idea of your writing skills so that he knows where to start the class from. So that is good news for you-you can pretty much write about any topic that interests you. Here are a few that would make good papers, and that you could find a lot of information about online (meaning you do not have to go to the library-yay!).
-the lack of literacy and understanding of the English language of immigrants, and how this prevents them from becoming successful citizens. (Although I would not do this paper if you prof is not from the US)
-Community college programs that offer adult literacy classes (you could research individual community colleges in your area, and they should explain the adult reading classes, and then you can look up statistics for adult literacy online)
-The Harry Potter phenomenom-a book that got kids AND adults reading again (there are plenty of quotes online from both kids and parents about the book-this topic would be easier to write about if you have read the book though)
-Censorship of books-this would be a fantastic topic and I think your prof would really be interested in this topic. You can research online simply “Censorship of books” and find stuff to help you write, you can give reasons why people want to censor books and reading materials in libraries, and then the arguement that we should not censor reading materials. This paper would be so easy to write, because you are basically explaining each arguement from your sources point of view-and then in the conclusion you can critique the arguements very shortly and come up with your own opinion.
In each of the papers, you will need to express your thoughts on the topic in your conclusion (this will help lengthen your conclusion also). If you have any questions, just add them to your additional details, and I will check back soon!
Good luck with your paper!!!!
