Bureau of Labor Statistics – Occupational Outlook Handbook. You can find all kinds of great info on different careers, including job outlook, employment, training and qualifications.

Google a major you’re interested in, e.g. “what can I do with a political science major?”.
You’re probably not even 20, you don’t seem to know what your interests are, and that’s okay. Most people don’t know what they want to do at age 20.
Get a more general degree that will get you a job upon graduation. Plan to work for a little while, hop around, get a variety of experiences, and then you’ll be in a better position to know what you want. Go back to get a graduate degree in the area that you decide. Good general degrees are in business/economics or social sciences.
One idea: Double major in Psychology and Finance.
If you haven’t found any you like yet try a class you never thought you’d like – maybe a foreign language or culture (I went from Bio-Chem to Psych to Russian Studies)
Do you get riled up by politics or enjoy learning about different cultures? Want to try to understand conflict in the middle east (Arabic Studies)? Some schools even let you design your own major – I know a girl who’s major was ‘studies of the goddess’ – really.
You’ll likely never have so much variety at your disposal as you do now so take advantage.
YEA,, yea course it would BE easier then a computer science degree [big scope there, its what I’m doing..but ah well]-
You for yourself have to find out what your interested in.
and nooooooooooooooo it’s not always about da money…you have to do something that you like, or you’d be dissatisfied…simple as that- makes logical sense yes?
You could like others have said, go to a counselling office and spend long hours sitting in front of a very boring person who will push you in any career direction in the attempt to quickly get you out of their office….yaada yaada yaada, must i go on?
OR.
You could do yourself a favour and do some research on your own, which is more fun anyway.Go to a random university site, any site..and go through their list of subjects – one subject area or another is bound to catch your eye.Once you’re interested enough, you’ll naturally begin seeing what type of job scope it has. and BOOM, you start movin- even if it’s just a tinnnyyy winnyyy bit.Better then whining about not liking chemistry [and oh i TOTALLY AGREE]…
Yet in my opinion, just for kicks kid, I’d say- the business stream is the easiest- yet if your a sucker for numbers, the accounting and finance stream is great too.
how about “advertising”?
That’s fun, creative and it pays damn well :)-
You don’t have to be a genius to do it, you have to be witty, interesting, sometimes a little eccentric and have good socializing and persuasive skills…you savy?
I’m just thinking aloud here…I suppose mines[university site thingy] is not the best advice, but it’s what I did.
I do sometimes wish I took forensic studies though.
GOOD luck, hope stuff works out for you.and thanks for your answer on my to – be – brought – home – soon – laptop 🙂
Rave.
What I will need you to do is to go to they “Career Counseling Office” at you r college or school. There is a class that is offered that will go through a battery of tests, nothing you have to study for. You will then sit down with a counselor, they will explain the results of the tests with you and go through jobs that they would recommend for you based on your strengths, weaknesses, and likes, and dislikes.
I took the class about 10 years ago, it is one of the best things I have ever done.
