med schools in the caribbean?
How can i become a doctor in only 4 years. i want to become a doc and then go on to art school. see my passion is art, but my parents want me to become a doctor. i kind of want to be a doctor as well because i truly like helping people. I herd the Caribbeans don’t require bachelors degree. is this true and if so how should i go about getting my education? Thanks!

No. Medical school is a 4 year post baccalaureate degree. But I am confused here–why waste a space in a highly sought after school (that someone truly wants), a great deal of of money, and 4 years PLUS of your life; if that’s what you really don’t want to do? (To be a practicing doctor you need to do an internship/residency as well). Why why why do that if you have no plans to ever practice? You will work incredibly hard & be miserable—follow your heart here….go to art school.

There are several Caribbean schools that will admit you as long as you can pay the tuition. The top tier Caribbean schools are becoming competitive and are beginning to require the same prereqs as US and Canadian schools. Many of the Caribbean schools will insist that you attend their pre-med programs if you haven’t already done the prereqs.
A word of caution–if you haven’t studied chemistry, you’ll have a very difficult time in med school and virtually no chance of passing the mandatory medical licensing exams. In addition, none of the Caribbean schools are US accredited, so any credits received are not transferrable–even between the Caribbean schools. So, if you start, you need to finish or it’s all wasted time and money.
You can research these schools and talk to current students at either StudentDoctor.net or ValueMD.com
