major/ minor vs undergrad?

A major is what your degree will be in–if you major in English, you’ll have a Bachelor’s of Arts in English.
A minor is something that means that you studied THIS but don’t have a degree in it. It’s similar to a concentration, really. It means that if you major in English and minor in Spanish, you can take that to a job and say that you have are fluent in Spanish and have a minor in it, even if you don’t have the degree in that specific area.
An undergrad (short for undergraduate) is a person in grades 13-16. That means, you graduated from high school, but you do not have a Bachelor’s degree.
A major is a concentration that you choose while you are in college. It is the thing that you want to specialize in. If you major in art, then you are referred to as an “art major”. That means that you take a certain number of art classes and you are expected to be knowledgeable about the subject.
A minor is like a major, but it isn’t as ‘big’, so to speak. For a minor, you take a certain number of classes and you are expected to be knowledgeable about the subject, but not as much as if you were to major in it.
For example, let’s say I am an undergrad with a major in art and a minor in film studies. I should know a lot about art and something about film by the time I graduate. I will have to take some film classes and a lot of art classes. When I graduate, I will have a Bachelor’s degree in art, with a minor in film.
May God bless you.
