is it unreasonable to have a career goal of starting an animal shelter?

i absolutely love animals and hate to see them without homes. i grew up in the country and there is no where for rural people to take animals when they are dropped off or stray. for this i have heard of people shooting the animal because they already have so many that have been dropped off.

i am going to be a senior in high school and would also like to know what type of education would be best for this goal. I know it will be difficult but i have a passion for it. Any tips?

well i guess i would take some strong courses in math biology and science, most colleges require that! and a student must complete an undergraduate preveterinary medical course work, which usually requires 3 to 4 years of college study. with specific course requirements. each college of veterinary medicine establishes it own preveterinary requirements. typical requirements include basic language, and communication skills, social sciences, humanities, mathematics, chemistry, and the biological and physical sciences… according to the AVMA>>>> Hey i worked hard on your answer!!

No it’s not unreasonable at all! But since most (practically all) animal shelters are non-profit you probably would have a pretty small salary.

I think it’s awesome you want to help animals! Good luck!
