Is it possible for me to still go to a good college even though i didn’t do well in high school.?

I have already graduated high school and got my high school diploma. The only problem is that i really screwed up my freshman year and it made it REALLY hard to redeem myself throuhout the rest of high school. My GPA from high school is something like 1.4 GPA. Right now i go to a local Tech college (North Metro Tech). My major is in Marketing and my GPA here is 3.0. But Im really sick of this place, its seems most of the people that go here are old people who are just tryna get the education they never got. I want to go to an actual university, where i can stay on campus join clubs etc etc, actually live the college life. Some people say i can finish what im doin here, get my associates degree then use that to get into a good college/university. I need to know what i can do ASAP, plus i wanna know if its still possible for me to get any really good scholarship to pay for it.

Hello Emory

Most scholarship money is allocated before a student enters the college as a freshman. Unfortunately, your chances at this point are very slim. You would be better off not admitting that you attended NMT and just apply as a beginning freshman.

Also, you need to really consider whether academia is the right place for you. Your HS GPA is horrible, and a 3.0 in marketing program at a community college is not all that great. It is just okay.

My sincere advice: Join the Navy, see the world for a few years, then decide whether you want to go after that Bachelor’s degree.

u should do some research on the schools u are thinkin about goin to first..take some tours, meet up and talk to the admission counselors there, etc..

of course its possible to still get into a good school if u didnt do so hot in high school..maybe you should transfer to a different community college in your area — one that you like and offers the programs that you want. 2 years at a comm. college not only helps boost up ur gpa, but u save crazy money also — which u will probably need if u decide to then transfer to a university..but gettin ur associates at a cc will help ur chances of gettin into a univ. so keep that in mind..like i said, jus do some research….also, aside from scholarships, look into some grants u might qualify for. theres plenty of money out there, u just have to dig deep..good luck. i hope everything works out well for u!!!

Son-with an attitude like yours, you’ll never do well at anything. I believe old people going back to school have more going for them, than you will ever have. You should have had your a–kicked by your parents when you made the grades, you made in high school. Oh, by the way bad grades in the 9th grade didn’t bring your grade point average down to 1.4, you screwed up all the way through high school, with a GPA like yours.

I agree , stay and finish what you have started it looks good on a college application , then if need be try a community college to get the basic classes out of the way , try to get your GPA up a little and then go for a university.

Good Luck to you.

Of course its possible! There is so much we can do to improve our looks. In middle school I was totally ugly – acne, buck teeth, scrawny body, stringy hair – I was actually ridiculed by my peers and it hurt. So I went to a dermatologist, an orthodontist – fixed my teeth and my skin – started working out and got a new haircut – by high school I was the Vice President of the Student Council and Voted “Wittiest” by my Senior Class! It can be done!!!

just do well in school, make the best of all of it.

and with good post high school marks you should easily be able to transfer into a college

or go to a community college and get the core classes out of the way with good markes and you can go to anywhere

even Harvard if you do well enough

not bs’ing you at all

I tend to doubt you’d make it into a top ranked school

Harvard declined applications from 1,100 students who has PERFECT SAT scores.
