Is it ok for a non-student to use a University library?
I’m a college graduate & can’t find a job, so I’d like to know if it’s ok for me to use the school library to help kill time & do some research on jobs. & no I’m not an alumnus of this particular university.

Might depend on the university. The one I went to has “public hours,” so anyone could come in and use the library during those hours. I don’t think the public can check books out, though, and there are a few other restrictions on the public.

It depends on the University — many public universities will allow some use by non-students, but private universities are more likely to block access. And some will let anyone use the services, except checkout — it really depends on the individual policy. The best way to find out is to call the library and ask about their policy on services to non-students (and non-alumni).

Chances are you can just walk right in and stay as long as you like, unless you’re a real stinker or sleazy looking, which I doubt. Whether you can check out anything, probably not, but it’s a case by case situation. When you go in you could ask someone at the front desk if they let non-students get a library card there, since
“a friend of yours wanted to know.”

At most public universities, the library is a public space and non-students can come in and do research, etc.

This depends on where you live. For security reasons, more and more schools are limiting their libraries to people with campus I.D. If you are in a rural community which doesn’t worry about these things, then you may be okay, but you couldn’t do it at my school.

It depends, some universities will allow anyone into their libraries, however, some will only allow students and faculty in. You will have to check with the university.

Public universities – absolutely. You might not be able to check anything out, but spend all day there if you want. Private schools can be picky, but call the main library desk and ask.

i’m no longer racist. we are each and each of a similar, merely wrapped in yet in a various way. I do resent being hated by potential of black human beings over slavery nonetheless. I even have at present traced my ancestors returned over six hundred years. My mothers and fathers are the two Irish, and my ancestors on the two my father, and mom’s area have been very destructive farmers, and that i’m able to a hundred% coach that they had easily no longer something to do with slavery, and had probable by no potential even considered a black individual, as they by no potential travelled from eire.

Yes. You need to get a card from them, I believe, but you should be allowed to use it.
If they don’t let you check books out, anyone can still go and read in the library.

Of course – but you might have trouble printing or logging into the computers if you don’t have an account.
