Is freedomhouse.org acceptable as a cited source on scholastic papers?

From visiting the websight they appear to be a legitamit organization that visits countries, collect data and do research on human rights in countries abroad. They also talk with world leaders and discuss human rights issues or coax unjust leaders to bring liberty to their people They are an international Non-governmental organization that is privatly funded. The only reason I question the source is because the websight ends with .org . Since wikipedia ends with a .org does that mean freedom house is not a reliable source for scholastic papers?

A .org website just means that it’s a nonprofit, nongovernment, noneducational institution – it says nothing about whether the site is reliable. Freedom House is generally considered to be a reliable organization. It would be better if you could find printed material that they distribute with the same information as is on their website. Websites change from time to time, so it’s not the best format for making sure people can double-check on your references. The problem with using Wikipedia as an authoritative source is that there’s no quality control, since anyone can go change it.
