Emotional intelligence produces a keen intuition and ability to read people. Benefits of emotional intelligence include increased empathy. Empathy is an essential element when considering the diverse cultural/personal backgrounds of individuals. Diversity influences how people act, talk, look and respond in any given situation. Most importantly, diverse background experience directly affects how a person learns. One who possesses a high degree of emotional intelligence will easily take “whole people” into consideration. Therefore, (in my opinion) emotionally intelligent indivduals work better with people.

Intellectual intelligence increases one’s success in school. An intellectual maintains focus to stay on task. Intellectuals continually meet or exceed academic goals. Possessing an intrinsic interest in cognitive growth, an intellectual is inquisitive and fact-seeking. They will not waste time procrastinating although they may devote added time to gain greater understanding of certain situations.

Intellectual intelligence is studying and doing your assignments. Emotional intelligence is knowing that you are prepared for an exam so you can score your best results.

Intellectual immaturity is going out partying the night before an exam and emotional immaturity is blaming the teacher for asking hard questions that you can’t answer properly.
